Individual Attributes

An individual attribute can be anything you want to track about a person. It can be a significant event that happens in the life of a church member such as baptism, dedication, or marriage. It can also be something more general like a skill or hobby.

In addition to tracking the attribute, you can choose to track the pastor or staff member that performed the ceremony or was present at the event. You can also add date and comment fields to the attribute so that you can collect as much information as possible.

Dynamic church wants to track all of the skills/hobbies of its attendees for a variety of reasons not the least of which is the fact that every year the Children's ministry enjoys performing the Christmas pageant complete with manager and inn! Invariably, October rolls around and the ministry leaders have a hard time finding people with carpentry, painting, and crafting skills to help out with the pageant. To help with this, ministry leaders have decided to add some new fields to the worship communication card to ask what skills and hobbies attendees have that they would like to share.

In Fellowship One, the administrator adds an individual attribute group called "Hobbies and Skills". Individual attributes that were added to this group include: Carpentry, Painting, Crafts, Sewing, PC repair, Data entry, Programming, and so on.

Finally, the administrator modified the contact form to include this new attribute group and attributes for fast data entry of the worship communication card. See Create a Contact Form for more information.

Note: Creating individual attributes is a two-step process. First, create the main group for the attribute to reside under. Next, create the attributes. For example, you could have an attribute group called Hobbies. The attributes under hobbies might be woodworking, sewing, writing, and so on. You can create as many attribute groups and attributes as you need.
